# Native Wayland rendering and GNOME palette integration are product
# requirements, not optional developer conveniences. snipsnap-annotator is a
# python3 script that drives gsettings; neither dependency is guaranteed by

# SnipSnap ships /usr/bin/flameshot as a compatibility symlink, which a
# distribution's own flameshot package also owns, so the two genuinely cannot
# be co-installed -- say so rather than letting dpkg discover it as a file
# conflict. Provides keeps anything depending on the old name resolvable.
# These three lines are the only place this package still names another
# program, and they are load-bearing: dropping them lets an apt upgrade
# silently replace someone's flameshot, which is the trap the rename avoided.

Description: Take and annotate screenshots, on every monitor at once
SnipSnap is a screenshot tool for Linux desktops. Select a region with the
mouse, annotate it, then copy or save it.
 .
On GNOME Wayland it installs a Shell extension that draws the selection
overlay inside the compositor. That is what makes a selection spanning
several monitors possible, and it is why the screen never flashes a portal
 permission dialog before every capture.
 .
It has no update checker and no image-host uploader; nothing it does leaves
 the machine.
