snipsnap (2.0.2-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * First public release on GitHub: the source tree is published at
https://github.com/spencercnorton/snipsnap as a release mirror. No
behaviour change -- this is 2.0.1 with its identity, homepage and contact
metadata pointed at that repository, a README with captures of the overlay
and the editor, and the community files GitHub surfaces.
  * The source tarball served beside the .deb is now the same exported tree
that is published, not an archive of the development checkout.
  * Replaced the inherited Code of Conduct, which carried an e-mail address,
with one that routes reports through private vulnerability reporting.

snipsnap (2.0.1-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Desktop notifications now identify themselves as SnipSnap. They carried no
desktop-entry hint, so GNOME could not match them to an installed
application: the notification list showed the raw process name "snipsnap"
with no per-app notification settings, and -- because an unmatched sender
is grouped by process id -- every capture opened its own notification
group instead of joining the previous one. Taking six screenshots left six
    separate entries to dismiss.

snipsnap (2.0.0-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Everything the program calls itself is now SnipSnap. The binary is
/usr/bin/snipsnap, the D-Bus name is tech.norvi.snipsnap, the desktop and
AppStream IDs are tech.norvi.snipsnap, the icons are named for it, and the
GNOME Shell extension is snipsnap-shell-bridge@kleos.norvi.tech. Until now
only the display strings had been renamed; everything underneath still
identified as the program this was forked from, which is confusing in
    `gnome-extensions list`, in `busctl`, and in a bug report.
  * Rename the canonical project from flameshot to snipsnap and update Debian,
AppStream, extension, security, contributor, man-page, completion, and
release documentation URLs. The old project path remains a redirect for
historical links, not a current product identity.
  * Settings survive the rename. The config moved from ~/.config/flameshot to
~/.config/snipsnap, and the first run copies the old directory across
rather than starting you from defaults. The old tree is left untouched, so
    downgrading still finds it.
  * `snipsnap-shell-bridge activate` transactionally installs and verifies the
per-user GNOME bridge, migrates Print ownership, and retires the extension's
previous UUID and autostart entry only after the new bridge and receiver are
proven active. Rollback restores the exact legacy state if any later
    handover step fails.
  * The compositor-backed Wayland editor now exposes SnipSnap's complete native
annotation toolbar, with live GNOME palette changes, high-contrast icons,
copy, save, pan, fit, and zoom controls.
  * Keep the standards-based desktop portal as the bounded fallback for future
Wayland compositors, while GNOME uses the prompt-free Shell bridge for
    multi-monitor region capture.
  * Install the native Qt Wayland and GTK platform integrations so the package
follows the desktop theme instead of depending on whatever happens to be on
    an existing workstation.
  * Declare every clean-build and bridge runtime dependency explicitly, and
recommend only portal backends that implement the screenshot fallback.
  * Harden the compositor test against the upstream GNOME perf helper's
intermittent pre-D-Bus startup wedge with a bounded, tested supervisor.
  * Audit the bridge against pinned GNOME Shell and Mutter 51.beta source and
declare the major-only GNOME 50/51 compatibility metadata GNOME expects.
  * /usr/bin/flameshot remains as a compatibility symlink, and the package
still Conflicts/Replaces/Provides flameshot. Those exist so an apt upgrade
can never silently replace a distribution's own flameshot, and dropping
    them would reintroduce exactly that.
  * Removed inherited material belonging to the upstream project: its README,
its mkdocs developer site, its RFC process, its snapcraft recipe and a
documentation PDF. The metainfo screenshots pointed at a repository that
is not ours, so they are gone until they are hosted somewhere that is.
  * Fixed a build-breaking consequence of the rename found before release:
the QHotkey FetchContent URL had been rewritten to a repository that does
    not exist.

snipsnap (1.0.3-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Declare python3 and libglib2.0-bin. snipsnap-annotator is a python3 script
that drives gsettings, and neither was a dependency -- on a machine with
only the declared ones it would have died on its shebang. CI could not
catch this: the packaging job installs libglib2.0-bin as a build
dependency and then runs the helper in that same container. A test now
checks the script's interpreter and every command it invokes against the
    control file instead.
  * Fix the Homepage URL, which 404ed. `apt show snipsnap` handed every user a
dead link, as did the AppStream metadata GNOME Software renders.
  * Drop Suggests on ca-certificates and openssl. Nothing in this package
speaks TLS anywhere: the Imgur uploader and the update checker are both
    compiled out.

snipsnap (1.0.2-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Report the version the package actually is. The binary said v1.0.0 while
apt said 1.0.1-1kleos1, and 1.0.1 existed only to fix the dead capture
shortcut -- so anyone checking `snipsnap --version` or the About window to
find out whether they had that fix got a number that could not tell them.
A test now fails if CMakeLists and this changelog disagree.
  * Point the AppStream metadata at this fork. It sent "Report an Issue" to
the upstream Flameshot tracker, whose maintainers cannot act on reports
about an extension that does not exist there, and it still advertised the
Imgur uploader that this package's own description says is removed.
  * Finish the rename in the settings window, the CLI help and error text, and
    the tray notification titles.
  * Update the translations so the renamed strings are still translated. They
key off the English source text, so every rebranded string had been
falling back to English in all 43 locales while its neighbours stayed
    translated.

snipsnap (1.0.1-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Cycle the Shell extension after activation moves the capture shortcut to
Print. On GNOME Shell 50 a live reassignment does not produce a working
grab, and every existing check passes anyway -- addKeybinding returns a
valid action id, the extension logs the re-grab as successful, and the
activation tool only ever compares dconf values. Measured on the
reference desktop 2026-07-27: no trigger event was logged for any Print
press between activation and a manual disable/enable, and both
    captures since.
  * Log a rejected capture instead of discarding it. The keybinding handler
had nobody above it to catch a throw, so a failure anywhere in the capture
path produced an unresponsive shortcut and an empty journal.
  * Document that changing the shortcut by hand needs the extension restarted.

snipsnap (1.0.0-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Rename the binary package from flameshot to snipsnap. Published to a
public archive, a package called "flameshot" at epoch 1 would outrank
every distribution's own flameshot and silently replace it on the next
apt upgrade for anyone who added the repository -- permanently, since an
epoch never goes away. Conflicts/Replaces/Provides state the real
relationship instead: the two share /usr/bin/flameshot, the
    org.flameshot.Flameshot D-Bus name and ~/.config/flameshot, so they
cannot be co-installed, but nothing is hijacked.
  * Drop the epoch. It existed only to outrank the inherited 14.x versions of
the old package name; a new name starts clean at 1.0.0.
  * Ship the GNOME Shell bridge in the package: the extension and its
compiled schema install to /usr/share/gnome-shell/extensions, and the
receiver is always compiled in. Previously both were reachable only
through the reference desktop's test kit.
  * Install /usr/bin/snipsnap as a symlink to flameshot so the product name
works as a command without breaking existing keybindings and scripts.
  * Add snipsnap-annotator, which switches the external annotator on and off
on both sides of the handshake at once. Setting only one of the two keys
hangs the next capture waiting for an editor window that never opens.

flameshot (1:1.0.0-1kleos1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * SnipSnap 1.0.0: the fork restarts its version series at 1.0.0.
  * Epoch 1 keeps dpkg ordering monotonic over the inherited 14.x
versions, which sort higher than 1.0.0 without it.
